One thing a lot of people don’t realize when planning a wedding is that it typically takes anywhere from four to twelve weeks to receive the finished, edited photos from the wedding. This is because of several reasons, but the main reason being that it takes time to edit and perfect everything! For vendors, seeing the photographs (especially after an elapsed time) is like seeing the flowers for the first time all over again!
Liz and Nick’s wedding was one that we looked forward to for weeks. Liz was brought to us by Birmingham wedding planner Becky Baker of Becky’s Brides. It was obvious from our initial meeting that this was going to be a gorgeous wedding from beginning to end. Liz hired an amazing photographer local to Birmingham, David Shirk of Unplugged Photography, and we cannot begin to thank him enough for sharing these beautiful and amazing images with us. Seeing his photos of the wedding took us back in time!
Liz and Nick had their ceremony and reception at a lovely venue in Chelsea, Alabama called Autumn Ridge. Autumn Ridge is a private estate which sits on 20 acres of beautiful land. The house itself is breathtaking and there are not words to describe the views.
For Liz’s bouquet, she wanted a rounded clutch bouquet of mostly creams with lavender accents to coordinate with her wedding colors. Designer Glenn Mask used cream garden roses, Vendela roses, Star of Bethlehem, muscari (more commonly called grape hyacinth), and a collar of dusty miller.
The bridesmaids wore light purple dresses which were beautiful against such a lush, green landscape. Their bouquets were smaller versions of the bride’s, still consisting of cream Vendela roses, dusty miller, mini Picaso calla lilies, and muscari.
The boutonnieres for Nick and his groomsmen were Vendela roses with a single sprig of muscari. The Victorian meaning of hyacinth is constancy which we think is a lovely flower to incorporate into weddings!
Liz’s flower girl wore a hair wreath of cream sweetheart roses and seeded eucalyptus while she tossed cream rose petals down the aisle. The ring bearer’s boutonniere was made up of two cream sweetheart roses with hyacinth accents.
At Autumn Ridge, the ceremony location overlooks a green pasture, a pond, and acres upon acres of forest. The stone and grass patio lends itself perfectly to ceremonies, and the owners have installed a wonderful arbor that we decorated with grapevine, curly willow branches, Italian Ruscus, and bouquets of flowers in the wedding colors. The flowers on the arbor included cream garden roses, cool water roses (lavender), white hydrangea, white oriental lilies, and Vendela roses.
The aisle was lined with alternating sizes of our wood & galvanized metal lanterns with pillar candles inside and scattered with cream rose petals.
For the reception a tent was erected near the house. The tent was draped in white, sheer fabric and was lighted with wrought iron chandeliers. Liz had two different centerpieces. For the first arrangements, we used wood & metal lanterns with pillar candles inside with votive candles and cream rose petals surrounding.
The second arrangement was a wrought iron votive candle tree with cream rose petals scattered on the table.
The bride’s cake was done by Olexa’s Cafe, Cakes, and Catering. It was a four tier cream cake with alternating designs. Mounded atop the cake was a cluster of flowers including cool water roses and lavender hydrangea. The same flowers were placed cascading down the cake.
