DOROTHY McDANIEL’S FLOWER MARKET

Leigh & Taylor – South Highland Presbyterian | Avon Theatre

Leigh & Taylor may possibly be the cutest couple we’ve ever met. Of course their looks are stunning — but they have been dating since the eighth grade, and you can simply tell by the way these two look at each other that they still have stars in their eyes just as newlyweds should!

Within a short time of beginning to plan her wedding, Leigh knew that she loved classic whites and ivories for her flowers and was attracted to natural wood & greenery as well. South Highland Presbyterian’s dark wood altar and beautiful stained glass was the perfect backdrop for the wedding. They hired the wonderful Spindle Photography {Kelly Cummings} to capture the day on camera and we send her many thanks for sharing these shots with us!

Leigh’s bouquet was a forward facing cascade of whites and creams. The flowers she chose were standard & garden roses, cymbidium orchids, mini calla lilies, peonies, scented geranium, green hypericum berries, berzilla berries, and stephanotis. Taylor’s lapel was decorated with a mini white calla lily from Leigh’s bouquet.

One thing Leigh told us repeatedly was how classic & elegant she wanted the wedding to be. She chose a taupe one shoulder gown for her bridesmaids to wear & we think the cream & green bouquets were the perfect compliment. Kelly also provided a photo booth at the reception & its fun to see that the girls had fun with the props during their formals.

The color scheme of white, cream, and green were carried throughout the wedding including the guest book arrangement, wreaths on the doors to the sanctuary, the altar rail, pew markers, and the altar arrangement.

It is no secret that most girls plan their weddings long before they find their groom. Having dated for almost half of their lives, there is no doubt that seeing Taylor at the end of the aisle was a dream come true for Leigh.

Leigh was one of the first of her group of friends to get married and she certainly wanted to show them the best time possible. The reception was held at The Avon Theatre located in the Lakeview District of Birmingham. The venue is uber romantic with exposed brick, and is especially so when Alex Garmon of AG Lighting works his magic. Guests found a mixture of high and low centerpieces comprised of curly willow branches, hanging amaranthus, peonies, roses, white stock, eremurus, bells of Ireland, green and white kale, white veronica, dusty miller, & birch branches with hanging votives.

Guests nibbled on wonderful hors d’oeuvres from Cafe Iz and were even treated to a late night snack of Leigh and Taylor’s favorite: hamburgers and fries!

This photo of Leigh’s friend catching the bouquet is priceless to us. We’d be this excited if we caught one of our toss bouquets too!

The newlyweds wanted to leave in style by way of a 1968 red Mustang convertible after running through a tunnel of sparklers. Congratulations Leigh & Taylor, we wish you all the best as you continue your life together!
