Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market once again had the pleasure of being asked to provide the flowers and décor for the 2013 Hope Gala benefitting the American Cancer Society. The fundraiser is held annually at The County Club of Birmingham.
The event includes a silent auction, dinner, live auction, and an amazing after party. This year’s gala was photographed by the always amazing Stacy Richardson Photography. With over fifty guest tables it certainly takes a team to pull everything together! Rental items were provided by Event Rentals Unlimited and all of the lighting and drapery was done byDesign Productions.
This year’s theme included yellow so all yellow flowers were used. Silver spandex linens were brought in from Spandex Rentals in Atlanta, Georgia along with buttercup napkins and beautiful gold chiavari chairs from Event Rentals Unlimited.
The entrance to the West Ballroom at The Country Club of Birmingham was stunning. The walls were draped in white fabric and the sideboard was dripping with yellow flowers. Silver accents were used throughout the event including each centerpiece.
This large arrangement including large yellow dahilas, white stock, yellow snapdragons, tulips, roses, calla lilies, pincushion protea, cymbidium orchids, and equisetum greeted guests as they entered the silent auction.
This large arrangement on the mantle served as the backdrop during formal photographs.
If it weren’t for these chairs and co-chairs the 2013 Hope Gala would not have been as successful.
Only the best for this fundraiser! Servers dressed in white dinner jackets, generously donated by Mr. Burch Formal Wear, passed wine and hors d’oeuvres during the cocktail hour and silent auction portion of the evening.
Hundreds of items including autographed books and sports memorabilia as well as exotic vacations were auctioned off to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Tropical monstera leaves were hung at the top of each column at the Birmingham Country Club. Over fifty guest tables were decorated with silver spandex linens, buttercup napkins, and gold chiavari chairs from Event Rentals Unlimited.
Yellow lighting was done throughout the venue to tie in the yellow theme. Design Productions did a great job with the lighting!
Gold chiavari chairs from Event Rentals Unlimited tied everything together perfectly.
Because the guest tables varied in size so did the centerpieces. In this flower arrangement two slender, rectangle vases were placed off-centered to elongate the table. Yellow blooms such as yellow garden roses, mini calla lilies, pincushion protea, tulips, and blooming forsythia branches atop silver rocks to create the look for this centerpiece.
Blooming forsythia branches, equisetum, lemons, mini calla lilies, garden roses, tulips, and locally grown dahlias were used in this guest table arrangement.
Some tables had lower arrangements with pincushion protea, blooming forsythia, and cymbidium orchids.
Lighting design by Design Productions.

The table centerpieces for the terrace tables were created in 9″ lomey dishes and contained a collar of seeded eucalyptus, kale, zinnias, Oriental lilies, yellow roses, sedum, and coxcomb.
