DOROTHY McDANIEL’S FLOWER MARKET

Nia & Thomas | The Historic Donnelly House

Nia & Thomas | The Historic Donnelly House

One of our favorite venues in Birmingham is The Historic Donnelly House. Situated on beautiful Highland Avenue, everything from the stunning Georgian columns, the red brick exterior, to the expansive garden area speaks directly to our hearts.

Nia lives in North Carolina and felt that this venue was a place many of her guests would feel right at home. She and Thomas hired Birmingham photographer Elle Danielle Photography to document the day and we thank her for sharing these photos with us!

For her bouquet, Nia wanted a classic and simple clutch made up of cream garden roses, sahara roses {which are cream rose with a pink tone}, freesia, and hydrangea with very little greenery and an ivory ribbon wrapping the stems.

Nia’s bridesmaids wore light pink gowns with a crumb catcher neckline and carried clutch bouquets of pink hydrangea, sahara roses, and freesia wrapped in black satin.

The gentlemen’s boutonnieres were sahara roses with greens. To make Thomas’ extra special our designer Glenn Mask used freesia from Nia’s bouquet to accent his boutonniere.

Nia’s adorable flower girl carried a pomander ball with light pink roses which accented the sash on her dress.

All of the details of the wedding were a recurring theme: light pinks, ivory, and black. The gazebo at The Donnelly House was draped in ivory fabric and pulled back with floral badges in light pinks, creams, and even white Oriental lilies.

At the reception the buffet centerpiece, mantle arrangements, and guest table centerpieces each contained pink hydrangea, white Oriental lilies, Sahara roses, freesia, white stock, and light pink spray roses.

The bridal cake was created by the wonderful Diane Olexa of Olexa’s Cakes & Catering. Mounded atop the cake were cream and Sahara roses, and freesia. Guests were also treated to a candy station which was labeled with coordinating labels and included personalized water bottles in the wedding theme.
