It was such a gorgeous day for a wedding at Samford University’s Reid Chapel. The bold colored flowers were dramatic in the pristine white chapel and Madeline and Chris were all smiles.
The American Cancer Society of Birmingham hosted it’s 34th annual Hope Gala at theBirmingham Country Club and it was a colorful one! The Gala this year honored Toni Tulley who was an accomplished artist in our city
Kaitlyn Kilpatrick was gorgeous in her beautiful bridal gown. Her bouquet of garden roses, hydrangea, and spray roses was highlighted by a family brooch at the base of her flowers.
When Melissa and her mother, Cindy, reached out to us about Melissa’s wedding day, they were more than thrilled to hear about our “do it yourself” station! When I asked Melissa why she chose to DIY her flowers she said “mainly because of cost but we are a very crafty family!” Melissa requested white hydrangea, green hypericum, ivory garden roses, vendela roses, baby’s breath, daisy poms, spray roses, burgundy garden roses, and white freesia.
Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market had a fantastic time working with Blair for her big day. She has such a radiant personality which made it very easy to design for her wedding and reception. Blair’s bouquet consisted of shades of soft peach, blush, greens, and whites with tulips, peonies, garden roses, and mini callas.
We love to do weddings because the possibilities are endless for creating something spectacular. Amanda and Brock are such a great couple and as you’ll see in the photographs, they were so thrilled to be getting married.

Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market loves and remembers concepts from all of our brides. However, every now and then a bride will come along that we will remember forever. Not only was Michelle one of those brides, but she was that bride for several reasons: She was hands down one of the most polite and stunningly gorgeous, but she also brought in a concept for her wedding that we had not only never done before, but we had never seen it done before either.
Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market was contacted last summer by one of our favoriteBirmingham wedding planners, Meghan Cease, of M. Elizabeth Events, to do the flowers for Kolson and Jason’s wedding and reception at Faucett Brothers Activity Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Kolson and Jason are both into fitness and the venue was the perfect fit for both of them!
Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market absolutely loved working with Erin and her mother to create a beautiful concept for a summer wedding. Erin and Matt were married this past June at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ruth Penton came to Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market with a very distinct style for her July wedding at Canterbury United Methodist Church. She owned lots of mercury glass containers and wanted to incorporate that into a classic, twenties style wedding.
Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market has been a full service florist, stationer, and gift shop in downtown Homewood since November 7, 1977.
Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market has had a very blessed year. Dorothy’s son Peter, our Operations Manager, welcomed a new daughter in May (Dorothy’s granddaughter). We were also able to celebrate our 35th year in business on November 7, and most importantly we have had another year of wonderful customers that we feel can’t be beat! We could write 1,000 words of how grateful we are and still would not scratch the surface.
One of our favorite venues in Birmingham is The Historic Donnelly House. Situated on beautiful Highland Avenue, everything from the stunning Georgian columns, the red brick exterior, to the expansive garden area speaks directly to our hearts.
